Setting up your account to collect birthdays when your customers opt-in is easy! Even if your existing customer list does not have birthdays Easy Smart Texting can help you collect the information with a simple campaign.
Log in to your Easy Smart Texting account and set up a new “Group (Keywords)” and turn on “Birthday SMS Wish” in that group so every time someone opts-in to that group via text in keywords, website widget, links, or social media the platform will automatically respond back requesting the birthday in a YYYY-MM-DD format. Once the customer fills that in it’s saved to their file and the automation will kick in automatically!
Left side click “Tools” and then “Birthday Wishes“
Click Actions on top right and then Add Birthday SMS Wish
Group – Select the same group that the Birthday SMS Wish was turned on, this is the automated birthday alert that the group will get when the customer’s birthday comes near.
Fill out the birthday message you want your customer to get (you can also set up digial coupons)
Put the # of days before the birthday you want the guest to get the birthday alert. (Example: 5 means the guest will get the birthday alert 5 days before their birthday.) Once done click Save and you are done!
Step 1: Create a NEW Group and name it Birthday
Step 2: Turn on the Birthday SMS Wish feature in the group
Step 3: Fill out all the fields in the Birthday group and click Save
Step 4: Setup the automated birthday alert (Tools – Birthdays)
Step 5: Make sure to assign the group to Birthdays and fill out all the fields and click save
Step 6: Send yourself a test message to ensure you setup works properly requesting the birthday with the example message below:
Step 7: (Final Step) Send a bulk text message to your entire customer list asking your customers to join your birthday club and make sure you include the keyword for that group “BIRTHDAY”
Example Message:
Hello from “Business Name”! Join our Birthday Club and get free perks on your birthday! To join respond back BIRTHDAY
When customers respond back with the keyword they will get an automated response “Please provide your Birthday in YYYY-MM-DD format” and that information will be assigned to their account and the automation will start. It’s that easy!
